Established in Oct 2023, HERA (formally known as Climate Resilience for All) is a women-founded and led NGO focused on strengthening the health and livelihoods of women and vulnerable communities to address the impacts of extreme heat.

Context

Building on the comms strategy developed by the Climate Agency, we were asked to create a brand that pushed boundaries in the climate sector. Extreme heat is devastating lives, health, and economies. Women on the frontlines bear the brunt, especially in low-income communities, where they are the backbone of families and local economies. The brand had to help push extreme heat to the top of the global agenda while supporting locally-led, practical solutions.

Approach

We created an identity to cut through the often conservative visual language of the climate space, that was bold enough to demand attention, but that also centred the lived realities of women most affected by extreme heat.

We developed a dynamic identity built around a distinctive heatwave symbol. This was combined with a visual language inspired by shimmer and mirage effects, distorting imagery to evoke rising temperatures and instability.

The result is a dynamic brand that feels alive, that shifts and refacts, mirroring the escalating nature of extreme heat.
